What this is about

In the plant I calculated what a machine hour costs, which investment pays for itself and how much capital sits in working capital. An investor asks exactly the same questions about a listed company — only from the outside, with the annual report instead of cost-centre accounting. freebirdcapital is my notebook for this: metrics, valuation and the rules by which I decide myself.

Three topics

Metrics & balance sheet

What a company earns on its capital, where intangible value is missing from the balance sheet and where the interest rate in every valuation comes from.

Valuation

Price-to-earnings ratio, fair value and margin of safety — and why the entry price decides the return.

Method & mindset

A written process instead of gut feeling: from screening and analysis to monitoring a position.

What this site is — and what it is not

A private research journal. No investment advice, no asset management, no recommendations of individual securities. Here you find methods, metrics and thinking tools, not stock tips. There is no advertising, no paid content and no affiliate links. I do not publish my own portfolio values.
